Overview

The Material

First introduced in 1929, Tenite™ cellulosics are a staple in the plastics industry. Tenite™ is a versatile and durable cellulosic plastic, and has been used in consumer product applications from radios and telephones, to toothbrushes and toys.

Tenite™ cellulosic plastics are noted for their excellent balance of properties, including: durability, rigidness, strength, surface gloss, clarity, scratch and chemical resistance, colorability, and warmth to the touch. Known as “the natural polymer”, Tenite is easily molded or extruded, and can be polished to a high gloss that brings out deep color saturation. Made from wood pulp, Tenite maintains the tactility and warmth of wood, and has been used in hand-held consumer products like golf putters and screwdrivers.
